The exhibition activity of the art gallery La Mongolfiera resumes with enthusiasm with the personal exhibition "Tonino Negri Sculture Ceramiche" which can be visited starting from Saturday 20 June.
Master of ceramic sculpture, Tonino Negri trained as a ceramist and sculptor by attending the workshops of artisans and artists including Gianni Vigorelli and Marcello Chiarenza and deepened his personal research through travel in Italy and abroad.
His sculptures are inspired by iconographies treated in remote times, however offering them new life and modernity. The theme of the woman and the mother, the mater matuta, is tackled by Tonino starting from the shape of a vase containing life that develops to such an extent that it becomes a water carrier.
Negri is also very close to other subjects that stimulate his creativity such as the Ark, place and symbol of life and aquatic animals: whales or rather sperm whales with a melodious song, solitary or compound carp, anchovies that are sometimes represented the ones attached to the others in a swirling and dancing rhythm.
The exhibition, curated by Gioia Quicquaro, art historian, will be open from Saturday 20 June until 18 July every day at the La Mongolfiera Art Gallery in via Roma 50 in Sanremo, from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 15.30 at 19.30, except on Monday mornings and holidays.
There will be no inauguration based on the current prevention regulations for Covid-19.
